About the day
This steam and sail experience begins at the Museum of the Broads, a museum in the boating centre of Stalham dedicated to Broadland life.
From the museum you’ll steam to Barton Broad on Falcon, a unique Victorian steam launch. At Barton Broad swap steam for sail power and enjoy a turn or two around the broad aboard Norada, then switch back to Falcon and steam back to the museum at Stalham. The last trip of the day will steam out on Falcon and sail back to the museum. As the price includes museum admission, make sure you allow time to look around the excellent displays too; they feature many a wherry but much more besides.
Named after a famous racing yacht, Norada was built by Ernest Collins in 1912 with a more slender hull compared to previous wherries. She is the only one of our wherries with a boom. Barton Broad is the second largest of the Norfolk Broads and rumoured to be where Admiral Nelson learnt to sail.
Tickets cost £30 per person. Book via Museum of the Broads: https://www.museumofthebroads.org.uk/
