About the day

This sailing begins at How Hill an area dedicated to the conservation of Broads habitats. Keep your eyes peeled for swallowtail butterflies and konik ponies. From How Hill, we sail up the River Ant passing small riverside villages of thatched cottages. Keep the binoculars to hand for marsh harriers and more. Our destination is Barton Broad, the second largest of the Norfolk Broads and rumoured to be where Admiral Nelson learnt to sail. Barton Broad is rich in wildlife and there will be time to disembark and explore before returning to How Hill.

A stop will be made en-route typically at one of the surrounding staithes for lunch. Meals and other refreshments are provided fresh from the How Hill kitchen, with wine or a soft drink, and morning and afternoon hot drinks are accompanied by either homemade biscuits or some of their superb cake. We can of course cater for any dietary requirements advised at the time of booking. This sailing will be aboard Hathor, our oldest wherry. Her lavish and stylish interior is extremely comfortable, with the star attraction being her beautiful inlaid woodwork featuring ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. Please ensure that you arrive by 0900. We operate on "wherry time", subject to wind and tide, and so our arrival and any interim stops may not always be as planned.
