WHERRY YACHT CHARTER CHARITABLE TRUST
Wherry Tour Photo Competition 2009

Winners announced

Everyone who saw or sailed on Hathor this year was cordially invited to enter the 2009 photo competition. We were looking for images that capture the spirit of Hathor as she sailed around the Broads for the last time for several years, to add to a comprehensive record of her Farewell Tour.

Over 60 entries were received, and the judges had a difficult but enjoyable task choosing the three winners. These winners are presented below, along with other photos that missed out on a prize but were felt to merit a special mention.

Our thanks to the two independent judges whose choices, along with those of Friends chairman Katy Walters, decided the winners:
Norwich photographer Alexandra Bone, who will be exhibiting at Norwich Arts Centre as part of Project 365 in January.
Ontario photographer Peter Kelly, who has exhibited in his home town of Guelph as well as publishing a book.

Prize winners

Hathor at Ludham Bridge - David Edleston

First prize goes to David Edleston for this stunning picture of Hathor moored at Ludham Bridge on July 25th. A superb, atmospheric shot and a unanimous choice for first place.
David wins a signed copy of Mike Page's book, A Broads' Eye View 2. Our thanks to Mr Page for his kind support of this competition.

Hathor at Thurne - Pauline Willmott

Second prize goes to Pauline Willmott for her timeless black and white photo of Hathor moored under late afternoon clouds at Thurne.
Pauline wins a £10 voucher for Jessops photographic stores.

Hathor on the Thurne - Jim Croucher

Third prize goes to Jim Croucher for his capture of Hathor against moody skies, approaching Thurne from Womack. An iconic head-on viewpoint - and nice timing with the swan!

Many thanks to all our entrants - it is lovely to see how Hathor has inspired you, and we were touched that so many of you also included a note to say how much you had enjoyed your time on board. We will contact you if and when we go on to use your photographs for any purpose. At present we are planning more postcards and greetings cards. We also hope to display entries at our Friends' event at Woodforde's Brewery on 28th November.
If anyone else would like to use any of the photographs shown here, please contact WYCCT and we will put you in touch with the photographer.
