Wherry Yacht Charter Charitable Trust take care of the only surviving fleet of Norfolk wherries: Hathor, Olive and Norada. The Trust was set up in 2004 to ensure the continuing use and preservation of these historical craft. In addition, there will be opportunities for the public to enjoy the wherries and for environmental education.

Wherry Yacht Charter was set-up as a non-profit making organisation by Peter Bower and Barney Matthews. Olive was the first of the wherries to be offered for charter again in 1978, followed by Norada (then Lady Edith) in 1984. Once the Wherry Yacht Charter had been formed in 1985, the Pleasure Wherry Hathor was bought and restored from a misused houseboat to full sailing glory by 1988. The fleet was then complete as we know it today.

It is most important to support Wherry Yacht Charter Charitable Trust because of this vital part of the Broads' heritage that they protect.
